Coulter Art Seminar The Villa July 12 - 14, 2013
You'll learn a tremendous variety of techniques, art principles, textures and color harmony with this one single seminar project. You'll learn to paint an old weathered wood door and shutters, stone pillars with wrought ironwork, rounded stone balcony, stone steps and a stone floor. Bursts of radiant sunlight spill across this scene to bring life, warmth and excitement. Curved wrought iron banisters grace the old worn steps, terra cotta pots filled with delicate flowers, an adorable stone cherub statuary pouring clear water from a terra cotta pot held in her little hands. The water falls into the clam shaped fountain bowl creating bubbles and delightful splashes. Wisteria is draped behind the fountain and a soft profusion of pink flowers soften the scene. The tree overlooks the balcony and its leaves are gracefully hanging down to add life against the golden sunlit wall behind them. Coulter Art Seminar ... Irish Castle with Swans August 9-11, 2013
You will learn 5 different kinds of perspective in this one seminar: 1) Light Perspective. How to capture the angle of sun rays to create special effects in a scene. 2) Shadow Perspective. How to paint cast shadows in perspective. This creates interest and accentuates 3 dimensional form. 3) Water Reflections Perspective. How to reflect the building, sky and trees into the water using vanishing points on the eye level line. 4) Linear Perspective. How to get those angles just right to create a realistic effect. 5) Aerial Perspective. How to make some areas recede in the picture plane while other areas advance. Houding is a fine art concept used by the Dutch Masters of the Golden Age. Linda will teach you how to apply the techniques for houding to this scene as an added bonus!

The Coulter Art Seminar is a 3 day event where you can paint with Linda in person. You'll watch her step-by-step demonstrations as she explains to you in detail every step of the project, from start to finish. Linda will be there by your side to answer any questions you may have, and she's ready to help you correct any mistakes that happen on your canvas. Linda can watch how you load the brush, how you hold the brush, and how you make your brush strokes on canvas. She'll offer you helpful guidance, tips and techniques with extra explanations to enrich your painting experience. Students should arrive at 8:00 am for seminars to trace the canvas and get their painting area organized and ready to watch Linda's 8:30 am painting demonstation. |
